Strawberries Madness

It's Sunday Afternoon and i'm quite mad because: First, My twitter Account was suspended and i dont know why, i'm not an Spammer or those accounts who makes a tweet for a minute. Second, My Oven is still broken. I cant fix it just yet because i have to wait till my next payday and cross my fingers to the tecnician makes his job done to start to bake again. Third, Tomorrow is Monday and that's a valuable excuse to be mad too ok?. But this very morning i wasn't that mad because i planned to have a Special Breakfast (It's a way to cook without an oven too) With Strawberries. Here on Venezuela there's only 3 places where you can find propper fresh Strawberries. On the Andes Area, where is a cold temperature and the strawberries crops doesn't get ruin by the tropical hot. On the metropolitan area there's a place called "Colonia Tovar" It's a little town who has some beautiful German Architecture and you can find large berries crops over there and last but not least  a little bit on the south but also on a mountain Area called "Caripe" where you can find some of the largest berries that i ever seen.

Well, i recieve a couple of Kilos of Strawberries this last friday and i spend all friday night and all saturday day trying to think what i'm going to do with those lovelies berries who doesnt need to bake. I was between a sweet breakfast or a cold strawberry ice cream, but after a bit of investigation i decide to make a breakfast and mix some ingredients like cream Cheese or Basil leaves to create a delicious dish who will make me have the energy all day long and that's why i trully love the sweet and heavy breakfast.
Also if you think is too heavy and sweet for a breakfast you can serve it for a late brunch with some friends.

And the recipe goes like this:
"French toast Sandwich filled with Straberries, Basil and Cream Cheese"

Ingredients

2 eggs
1/2 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon granulated sugar
1 teaspoon if cinammon
A hint of nutmeg
8 ounces cream cheese
12 fresh Basil Leaves
8 slices white bread
1 cup sliced fresh strawberries
Butter, for cooking
Honey

Directions

In a small bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and granulated sugar. Spread the cream cheese on half of the bread slices, add some of the basil leaves and some of the sliced strawberries. Top with the remaining 4 bread slices and press around the edges to seal.

Melt butter on a griddle over medium-low heat. Dip the sandwiches in the egg mixture for a few seconds on each side. Cook the sandwiches until golden brown, 2 to 3 minutes per side. Serve with strawberry syrup.

For the Strawberry syrup:

3 cups sliced strawberries
1 cup granulated sugar
Zest and juice of 1 lemon

In a medium saucepan, combine all the ingredients and bring to a boil. Lower the heat and simmer until the strawberries are soft and the syrup is thickened and reduced by 1/3 to 1/2 in volume, 15 to 18 minutes.

Remove from the heat and let cool to room temperature before serving.

Beware to not over cook, because it will be more thick, like a Jam. If this happen just add a little bit of water and let it boil.

You can even accompany it with a fresh strawberry water. to have a fresh and cool taste on your mouth.

I hope that you guys enjoy this tasty plate and i also hope that my twitter account will be active again :)
